Strong boxes
Easy to lift and carry

Even in this age of the mp3 and the IPod's, we all have some our music and movies sitting on our shelves or under the TV stand. Chances are, you spent some money on these things, and you'd prefer if they weren't damaged during your move.

What You'll Need

When packing your CDs and DVDs, you'll need a few materials:

  • Stack of clean packing paper or unprinted newsprint
  • 1.5 cubic foot or "small moving boxes" for moving
  • Roll of packing tape
  • Permanent marker

How To Pack CDs and DVDs

The bottom of the box should be taped up really well, since these are heavier items. We suggest doing a double layer. Don't pack them in big boxes! They will be too heavy to lift, and they might give out on you.

CDs and DVDs should be packed, whenever possible, in their original packaging. The process is very simple. Stack them like they would be on a shelf, in rows at the bottom of the box. Once you've got the bottom covered, put a layer of packing paper on top and repeat the process. Extra CDs and DVDs can be stacked flat on top to utilize as much space in the box as possible. Any extra room should be filled with crushed paper to keep everything from shifting around.

Place one final layer of packing paper on top of everything as cushioning. Then, seal the box with tape. Finish by labeling the box with its contents and destination.
